2009

Stop Press / DECEMBER

Kirkbymoorside Business Partnership are hosting three late night openings on the Friday evenings running up to Christmas. There is also a Christmas Market in the Market Hall on the 11th December which coincides with Santa coming to town.
The event will run from 4.30 to 7 pm.
RJB Photographic will  have a stall at the market so hopefully we will see all our friends from Kirkbymoorside supporting the event.

Kirkbymoorside natural health centre

Over the winter months we have been invited to display our “Ryedale in Winter” exhibition  in the reception area of the Natural Health Centre in Kirkbymoorside.

TWO DRAGONS OF BATH

Now in our fourth year of trading, we are pleased to say that
2009 has been a very productive year.
Our project recording the north east coast at dawn and dusk is going well, so watch out for new photographs hitting the website soon.
We are looking forward to some sleep now dawn breaks so much later!

Following successful exhibitions at the Moors Centre Sutton Bank and the Ryedale Art Exhibition, we have been invited to exhibit our prints in the Two Dragon Gallery in Bath. See their website http://www.twodragonsofbath.co.uk/

Made it!

After the high of getting an email in May to say we had 4 photos short listed, we had the agonising wait until late October to find out that we’ve had a photograph accepted for Charlie Waite’s prestigious “Take a View” landscape photographer of the year competition.
With over 20,000 entries and a very high standard, second year in succession is a great achievement.
The winning entries will be exhibited at the National Theatre for eight weeks and will be printed in the AA Travel “Photographer of the Year” book.
For those not able to visit the exhibition the winning entries can be viewed on the website www.take-a-view.co.uk or purchase a copy of this lovely book from Amazon.

EXHIBITION, NATIONAL PARKS CENTRE, SUTTON BANK

A date for your diaries. RJB Photographic and Ryedale Photography will be hosting their 4th annual exhibition at the National Parks Centre Sutton Bank next March. The exhibition has been expanded and will run for ten days, starting on March 19th, and running through until 29th March.
The exhibition will feature a stunning selection of both colour and monochrome landscapes and will feature many new photographs of the north east coast and Scotland.

We are also delighted to welcome David Sault as the guest photographer to the exhibition.

The Moors Centre is a haven for walkers and has an excellent tea room, so why not take in some of the wonderful Yorkshire countryside, then drop in for a cuppa, or a snack before visiting the exhibition. Free entry.

JUNE

Its been all go this month, with another outlet for our pictures at Calgary on the Isle of Mull, 2 features in 2 different magazines, a sale at Alamy, getting ready for Ryedale Art Exhibition and Take a View, AND getting all the Mull and Eigg shots ready and on the site - PHEW!

Despite fears of the recession, framed print sales continue to be strong; particularly at the Skelf Gallery in Boston Spa http://www.skelfframestadcaster.co.uk/ and RJB Photographic continue to expand their activities in a number of other areas.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHER MAGAZINE & PHOTOGRAPHY MONTHLY MAGAZINE

Much to our great surprise, we got calls from two photo magazines within an hour of each other, which left us slightly confused as they were both looking for similar articles. Photography Monthly has an interview with Janet and myself about our monochrome landscapes and Digital Photographer has an article on digital infra-red photography, so check out the latest editions of these magazines, both on sale now.

CALGARY HOTEL, ISLE OF MULL

We are pleased that the Carthouse Gallery at Calgary on the Isle of Mull are now stocking our prints.
The Gallery is part of the Calgary Hotel complex and is situated near the popular and beautiful Calgary Bay.
The Hotel is wonderful place to either stay, or go for a meal in the Dovecote restaurant and also has a number of holiday cottages for those wishing to go self catering. We’ve tried the restaurant ourselves and can highly recommend it.
The gallery itself is also a great place to call in for a coffee or a snack and a great place to admire the wide range of locally produced art works. Visitors can also visit the “Art in Nature” woods where art and nature combine to produce an area of peace, contemplation and exploration.

Many thanks to Julia for all your help.

RICHARD IN DIGITAL SLR MAGAZINE / FEBRUARY

Richard was pleased and surprised to get a call from Digital SLR Magazine asking if they could use one of his photos for this month's magazine.

"Well, I'm not going to say no, am I?"
